Repairs and alterations
We offer a repair service for damaged racquets, replacing worn grips, broken nets, canes and heads.
The price for each of these elements is as follows:
Grip replacement – £10
Cane replacement – £50
Net replacement – £40
Head replacement – £50
Though we can do some repairs like grip replacements at tournaments, for most repairs we will need to take your racquet away to our workshop.
We can also alter racquet nets to speed up or slow down their speed or to sort out “hookiness”.
A slower (or deeper) net is harder to throw with but easier for holding onto the ball when picking up , while a faster (or shallower) net will be easier to throw with but players might find they struggle to hold onto the ball when picking up or getting tackled.
Depending on your experience and your natural reflexes a faster or slower net might suit you better.
Nets also sometimes get “hooky”, which is when the knots move or strings stretch. This basically make lines of string into barriers that stop the ball leaving the net smoothly. When this happens we have to alter the knots to create a nice, smooth slope for the ball to leave the net.
We don’t charge anything for alterations except for postage costs if we need to post the racquet back to you. It is easiest to do alterations with the player who uses the stick present so we can set the net to suit them but we can also try and do it remotely based on a a description of the required net speed / depth.
